A rug; a very thick and heavy warm mattress woven with a special kind of loom. The weaving of puonri is energy-consuming, complicated, and taxing. In the past, the weaving of it was considered fatal by the Hmar tribesmen. Stretching the warp of puonripui was often preceded by worship and a divination called Puonripui Khâwng where thiempi worshipped and invoked a female weaving goddess called Kawlpuinu, also known as Tapuinu.
