A wild, edible herb commonly known as Indian Chickweed, Bitter Leaf, or Jima (Hindi), botanically identified as Glinus oppositifolius (L.) Aug. DC.
It grows close to the ground and is characterised by its small green leaves and tender stems. Naturally bitter in taste, it is traditionally valued for its anti-inflammatory, digestive, and wound-healing properties.
Among the Hmar tribals, it is usually stir-fried or cooked as part of Chialhme, a mixed vegetable dish.
