Winged bean, also known as cigarillas, Goa bean, four-angled bean, four-cornered bean, manila bean, princess bean, is a tropical herbaceous legume plant widely cultivated and consumed in North East India, particularly in states like Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, and Assam.
The bean is commonly eaten raw as a salad, often paired with chili and fermented fish in the form of a chutney, and is also traditionally cooked with other vegetables in dishes such as Chialhme or Changalhme.
